The Member of Parliament for Bosome Freho, Mr. Nana Kwame Osafo Adjei has vented his frustration at what he termed abuse of human rights of their Ashanti Regional Chairman, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako.
According to him, his respect for rule of law made him believe Chairman Wontimi will be given a good treatment but that assertion had been refuted by the sudden turn of events.
The MP revealed that when the hours for which Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako had been held, he noticed the issue had gone beyond mere politics.
“This political maltreatment had prevailed in Ghana for decades and it’s about time we stop it.When NDC came to power from 1992 to 2000 then NPP also came from 2000 to 2008, NDC came back from 2008 to 2016 so this not a new thing.
So today, if NDC is in power and thing still persist because they say we did same.
But if this is what we are leaving for Ghanaians then it’s not good.
The reason is that they have been power more than we, NPP”, the Bosome Freho MP lamented.
The lawmaker is accusing the ruling National Democratic Congress of not giving a moral justification for the repeated manhandling of political opponents.
“Me, I believe Chairman Wontimi believe very well in the treatment meted out to him. He is a man.
They can kill him.
All I know is that he will definitely be released. Four years will come; eight years will also come.
We should know that the government will change.
The way water behaved, the same way the sun will”, the Bosome Freho MP comforted.
He said, “If things do not change, when power changes hands, same things will persist.
He concluded that the future lies the next line of actions for the New Patriotic Party.
