A dawn fire swept through sections of the Madina Market in Accra on Friday, September 19, destroying several shops and makeshift structures before it was brought under control.

The blaze, which broke out in the early hours, consumed multiple wooden stalls, two corn-milling shops, and at least nine metal containers used as retail outlets.

Several other structures sustained varying degrees of damage.
Firefighters arrived on the scene to battle the flames and prevent further spread to adjacent areas.

Thankfully, no injuries or fatalities were reported.
The fire service officers say the cause of the fire remains unknown and investigations are underway to determine what sparked the incident.

Traders have been left counting their losses, with many expressing frustration over recurring fire outbreaks in the area.

Emergency services are urging market users to adhere to safety precautions, especially regarding electrical connections and fire safety measures.
