The Police have recorded a major breakthrough in the fight against highway crime with the arrest of seven suspected members of a notorious highway robbery syndicate, following a coordinated intelligence-led operation.
According to a statement from the Police Command, the suspects were apprehended after weeks of surveillance and tactical planning aimed at dismantling a criminal network responsible for a series of armed robberies along major highways.

The operation led to the successful interception of the suspects and the recovery of several dangerous weapons and other incriminating exhibits.

Items recovered from the suspects include firearms, ammunition, and other materials believed to have been used in the execution of highway robbery attacks.

The Police noted that the recovered exhibits will play a critical role in ongoing investigations and subsequent prosecution.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the syndicate allegedly specialized in ambushing unsuspecting motorists, particularly during late-night and early-morning hours, instilling fear and disrupting safe travel along key transport routes.

The arrested suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting investigators with further information to help identify additional members of the gang and recover more weapons.

They are expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Police Command has reassured members of the public of its commitment to ensuring safety on highways and urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.

Motorists were also advised to cooperate with law enforcement agencies as efforts continue to rid highways of criminal elements.
