Chris Ankou Resigns Government Post to Pursue NDC Madina Constituency Secretary Race

Chris Ankou has officially stepped down from his role as a Government Appointee to the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly (LaNMMA), signaling a renewed bid for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Madina Constituency Secretary position, a role he has previously contested and now seeks with full commitment.

Chris Ankou has announced his resignation as a Government Appointee to the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly (LaNMMA), effective immediately, to focus on his ambition of becoming the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Secretary for Madina.

In a statement, Ankou emphasized that the decision was made after careful reflection and in the best interest of both the Assembly and his political aspirations.

He noted that the demands of the Constituency Secretary role require his undivided attention, prompting his decision to step aside from his current position.

“This decision has not been taken lightly,” he stated.

“After thoughtful consideration, I believe it is necessary to dedicate myself fully to the pursuit of this important role within my party.”

Ankou previously contested the Constituency Secretary position in 2018 and 2022 and remains determined to serve the party at a higher organizational level.

Reflecting on his time at the Assembly, he described the opportunity to serve as a great honor and expressed gratitude for the chance to contribute to the development of the municipality.

He highlighted his collaboration with fellow Assembly Members, traditional authorities, and other stakeholders in advancing initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of residents.

“I remain proud of the strides we have made together, despite the numerous challenges encountered along the way,” he said.

He also extended appreciation to key figures, including the President of the Republic, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, the Municipal Chief Executive, the Presiding Member, the Member of Parliament, his colleagues in the Assembly, and the people he served, for their support throughout his tenure.

Ankou stressed that his resignation is guided by principle and a desire to pursue commitments that demand his full attention, particularly the strategic role of Constituency Secretary, which he described as critical to the success and organization of any political party.

Despite stepping down, he reaffirmed his commitment to the development of the municipality and pledged to continue contributing in any capacity possible.

He concluded by urging stakeholders to remain united and dedicated to advancing growth, transparency, and good governance in the municipality.
