A 19-year-old hairdresser has allegedly been robbed and raped by two men along the Apollonia-Afienya road.

The incident occurred on September 27 when the hairdresser hired one of the suspects, Nicholas Tetteh, an okada rider to transport her to Afienya.

It is alleged that along the way, Tetteh conspired with two others, including Joseph Tetteh to ambush the young woman.

The suspects are said to have dragged the victim into a nearby bush, where two of them sexually assaulted her.

They are alleged to have also taken her iPhone XR and handbag containing GHC 150.00 according to the police.

The victim is said to have later reported the incident to the Zenu–Atadeka District Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), where she received medical care and gave her statement to investigators.

Following swift police work, the suspects were arrested and charged with robbery and rape.

They were subsequently arraigned before the Gbetsile Circuit Court and have been sentenced to 15 years each.
