The Member of Parliament for Sissala East, Muhammed Issah Bataglia, has expressed concern about the winner-takes-all syndrome in Ghana’s political landscape,a phenomenon he described as a significant challenge to Ghana’s democracy.
Speaking in an interview, the lawmaker emphasized that the syndrome, where the ruling party takes control of all aspects of governance, is undermining the country’s democratic progress thereby advocating for the right measures to reverse the trend.
According to Hon. Bataglia, the winner-takes-all approach is not only divisive but also denies opportunities to citizens who are not affiliated to the ruling party.
He was of the view that measures to change the trajectory would make Ghana’s democracy more inclusive, thereby allowing all citizens to contribute to the development of the country, regardless of their political affiliation.
