The Parliamentary Health Projects Coordinator for Madina Constituency, Hon. Lovelace Bobolee Kwadzo Edzor, has said the free breast screening exercise currently underway at Wisconsin University College is part of efforts by the MP for Madina, Hon. Dr. Francis-Xavier Sosu to complement government’s primary healthcare delivery.
Speaking at the screening, Hon. Edzor, who is serving as acting CEO of the Sosu Health Project from the office of the MP, said his outfit was informed about the breast screening programme for students of the university and was directed by the MP to ensure its successful execution.

“My outfit was informed about the breast screening programme for the students of Wisconsin University College and he [Hon. Sosu] directed that we should be here to represent him and ensure that whatever the students need to make sure that this programme comes to a successful end, he will take care of that,” he said.
He disclosed that over 20,000 students are expected to benefit from the exercise, which includes full breast screening and other medical checks.
“The reason we are here, so if we can look around, there are students, but over 20,000 students here going through this programme, full breast and some other medical screening as well. So this is a testimony for his support for giving or adding up to the primary health care that the government is doing. So I am here because of the directive from my boss, Honorable Dr. Xavier Sosu,” he noted.

According to him, the office has deployed all available staff, including health personnel and media teams, to ensure students have what it takes to enjoy the programme.
“And this we are using his office, the health project, to organize this programme. So we have deployed all staff available to do the breast screening as well as the media and all to ensure that the students have what it takes to enjoy this programme,” he added.
Hon. Edzor further announced that the Sosu Health Project will shortly mount a similar exercise for prostate screening in Madina.
“We’ll shortly also be mounting that for the prostate in Madina coming next week. His interest is to also ensure that all the males in Madina and all other people around the world who wanted to enjoy the prostate screening, free prostate screening and medications can also come around. That is why we are here today,” he said.
The screening forms part of breast cancer awareness activities aimed at promoting early detection and treatment among young women in the constituency.
