N’akoa Nazareth Urges Public to Observe Ga Homowo Ban on Drumming and Noise

The Leader and Founder of the Israel King of the Jews Church, Prophet N’akoa Nazareth Ansah Jamson, has called on all residents within the Ga Traditional Area to fully comply with the annual ban on drumming and noisemaking, which begins on Monday, May 12, 2025.

Speaking in his capacity as both a religious leader and the Noyaa Mantse (Development Chief) of the Onomrako Adain Family in the Greater Accra Region, N’akoa Nazareth emphasized the spiritual and cultural significance of the observance, which heralds the Homowo Festival—an important traditional celebration for the Ga people.

He dispelled misconceptions about the period, clarifying that it is not a fetish practice, but rather a sacred tradition that fosters reverence, reflection, and community unity.

“This is a time for peace, prayer, and respect for the customs that have guided our people for generations,” he said.

N’akoa Nazareth also urged religious bodies, including churches, to observe the one-month ban in solidarity with the traditional authorities, stressing that cooperation would prevent the need for confrontational enforcement by local youth groups.

As the Spiritual Leader of the Prophets and Spiritual Churches Council of Ghana, he assured the public that his church would fully comply with the directive.

He appealed to all to uphold the sanctity of the period and help preserve the cultural heritage of the Ga people.
