Zam Pac Launches Bottled Water Brand, Introduces Widow Empowerment Project to Transform Lives

Zam Pac Company Limited, producers of Zam Ice Natural Mineral Water, has officially launched its new bottled water brand while unveiling the “Zam Widows Impact Project”, a social intervention initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable widows through financial assistance, vocational empowerment and product donations.

The initiative seeks to create sustainable economic opportunities for widows by equipping them with practical skills, financial support, and other resources to help them achieve independence, improve their livelihoods, and provide for their families.

Speaking at the launch in Madina, Chief Executive Officer of Zam Pac Company Limited, Alhaji Abdul Aziz Khalid, said the project forms part of the company’s broader commitment to corporate social responsibility and community development.

According to him, the company believes business success should translate into meaningful benefits for society, particularly for vulnerable groups facing economic hardship.

“We want every bottle of Zam bottled water purchased to represent more than a product,” he said. “We want it to contribute to changing lives and creating opportunities for widows and vulnerable families.”

Alhaji Khalid noted that the Zam Widows Impact Project reflects a growing effort by Ghanaian businesses to combine commercial success with social impact by supporting disadvantaged members of society.

Adding to the company’s vision, Director of Zam Pac Company Limited, Hajia Juweira Abdul Hameed, explained that the initiative is specifically designed to provide assistance to widows through financial support, product donations, and other interventions aimed at improving their welfare.

“The Zam Widows Impact Project is designed to provide support for vulnerable widows through cash donations, product support, and other forms of assistance to help them cater for themselves and their families,” she said.

She added that proceeds and support generated through the new Zam Ice bottled water brand will contribute to sustaining the initiative and expanding its reach to more beneficiaries.

MCE Applauds Education and Innovation

Launching the product and project, the Municipal Chief Executive for La Nkwantanang-Madina, Alhaji Ibrahim Faila Fuseini, commended Zam Pac for combining entrepreneurship with social responsibility.

He described the launch of the bottled water brand as evidence of the transformative role education plays in innovation and economic growth.

“This initiative is possible today because of education,” he stated. “Education brings innovation and improvement. Without education, the Chief Executive Officer of Zam Ice Company Limited could not have added value to sachet water and expanded into a new product line with bottled water.”

The MCE encouraged traders, particularly women in the Madina Market, to embrace education and continuous learning as tools for business growth and economic advancement.

“Education enables people to think differently, innovate, and create opportunities. Our market women must see education as a tool that can help them add value to their businesses and improve their earnings,” he said.

Alhaji Fuseini further described the Zam Widows Impact Project as one of the most impactful community-based initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable women.

He noted that many widows face severe financial challenges following the loss of their spouses, making targeted empowerment programmes essential to their wellbeing and long-term security.

“The Zam Widows Impact Project is one of the best initiatives to support vulnerable widows within our communities,” he said. “When businesses create opportunities that empower people economically, it contributes to growth and development in our society.”

Community Leaders Welcome Initiative

The Chief of Madina Zongo, Abdullai Ali Dagadu, also welcomed the project, describing it as a timely intervention for many struggling families within the municipality.

According to him, there are numerous widows in the Madina area who face daily economic difficulties, making the initiative both relevant and necessary.

“There are countless widows within the municipality, and this initiative is in the right direction,” he said.

The chief further disclosed that the programme will also extend support to orphans, ensuring that vulnerable children benefit from the intervention alongside widows.

He commended Zam Pac for demonstrating a commitment to community welfare and called on other corporate institutions to emulate the company’s example by investing in initiatives that directly improve people’s lives.

Business with a Social Purpose

The launch attracted traditional leaders, government officials, traders, business stakeholders, and community members, many of whom praised the company’s decision to combine business expansion with social intervention.

Customers say the Zam Widows Impact Project has the potential to become a significant support system for widows, orphans, and vulnerable families while demonstrating how businesses can leverage commercial success to create lasting social impact.
