Two Arrested in Kete-Krachi with 86 Parcels of Suspected Indian Hemp in High-Stakes Police Operation

The Anti-Robbery Unit of the Kete-Krachi Divisional Police Command has arrested two men in possession of a large haul of suspected Indian hemp.

The suspects—John Dzeble, aged 34, and Adzobi Mesiwotso, aged 24—were apprehended on June 15, 2025, during a coordinated, intelligence-driven operation in Kete-Krachi, within the Oti Region.

The arrest followed a targeted stop-and-search of an Opel Astra vehicle with registration number GT 6430-13. Dzeble was behind the wheel, with Mesiwotso as the passenger.

Upon conducting a thorough search, police officers uncovered a staggering 86 compressed parcels of dried plant material suspected to be Indian hemp.

The parcels were cleverly concealed in multiple hidden compartments of the car, including the engine bay, inner door panels, and the trunk—indicating a deliberate attempt to evade detection.

In addition to the narcotics, police retrieved a portable digital measuring scale and a roll of masking tape, believed to have been used in weighing and packaging the illicit substances.

According to DSP John Nchor of the Oti Regional Police Public Affairs Unit, the operation was part of an ongoing strategy to clamp down on organized drug trafficking networks operating within and beyond the region.

He noted that the suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting with further investigations, which could potentially lead to the identification of a broader drug distribution network.

“The swift action by our Anti-Robbery Unit underscores our commitment to making the Oti Region an inhospitable place for drug traffickers and other criminal elements.

“We commend the officers involved in the operation for their vigilance and professionalism,” DSP Nchor stated.
