Pantang–Abokobi Road Near Completion as Contractor Targets Six-Month Deadline

Residents and motorists in the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipality are expected to experience significant relief soon, as construction work on the Pantang–Abokobi road advances steadily, with the contractor assuring completion within the next six months.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly, Hon. Ibrahim Fuseini Faila, has expressed confidence in the progress of the ongoing Pantang–Abokobi road project, describing it as a transformative development for the municipality.

Speaking during an inspection of the project, the MCE noted that the road forms part of broader efforts to address the longstanding infrastructure challenges within Madina and its surrounding communities.

He commended President John Dramani Mahama for prioritizing road development in the area, emphasizing that the municipality has endured years of neglect in terms of road infrastructure.

According to him, “Madina has been deprived for a very long time when it comes to roads.

For years, residents and commuters have had to contend with dusty roads during the dry season and muddy, often impassable conditions during the rains.

This project is therefore a major relief to our people.”

Hon. Faila further disclosed that the assembly is working closely with the contractor to ensure that construction progresses at an accelerated pace without compromising quality.

He noted that while the project is on track, additional efforts are being made to meet the proposed six-month completion timeline.

The MCE acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the ongoing works, particularly to motorists and commercial drivers who rely heavily on the stretch.

He said the assembly is aware of complaints regarding traffic disruptions and delays, but assured residents that these challenges are temporary.

“We are pushing the contractor to expedite work so that the road can be completed on schedule. We understand the concerns of motorists and residents, but we want to assure them that the end result will be worth the patience,” he said.

He used the opportunity to appeal to the public to cooperate with engineers and workers on site, urging them to observe safety measures and comply with any temporary traffic arrangements put in place.

Hon. Faila emphasized that the Pantang–Abokobi road, when completed, is expected to improve connectivity within the municipality, ease congestion on alternative routes, and enhance economic activities in surrounding communities such as Pantang, Abokobi, Boi, and Madina.
