The Member of Parliament for Madina, Hon. Dr. Francis-Xavier Sosu, together with the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipality, Hon. Ibrahim Fuseini Faila, has donated 10 cows valued at GH¢250,000 to Muslim communities across the constituency to support this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebrations.
The donation, made on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, formed part of activities marking the Islamic festival of sacrifice, also known as Salah or Eid-ul-Adha.
Speaking to the press during the celebrations, Dr. Francis-Xavier Sosu described Eid al-Adha as a significant occasion that symbolizes sacrifice, forgiveness, unity, and devotion to God.

“Eid ul-Adha simply means the Feast of Sacrifice. It represents the sacrifice Abraham was prepared to make, and it is also a feast of forgiveness,” the Madina MP stated.
He emphasized the importance of political leaders identifying with the beliefs, cultures, and traditions of the people they serve.
“As leaders, we must remember that we represent the people. Their interests, culture, identity, and religion become our own because we are one people,” he said.
According to the MP, the donation exercise was aimed at supporting Muslim families and strengthening community solidarity during the festive season.
Dr. Sosu explained that the outreach covered several communities within the Madina constituency, including visits to traditional leaders, Imams, and mosques.
“We have visited the Chief of Madina and also made presentations within the Zongo communities. We are extending support to almost all the Imams and mosques within the municipality,” he noted.

He added that the team would continue the distribution to surrounding communities, including Otinibi and other rural parts of the constituency.
The Madina legislator used the occasion to call for peace, unity, and forgiveness among residents.
“We pray that this season becomes one of forgiveness. We must learn to forgive one another so we can live together in peace and continue to grow and develop the Madina community,” he added.
The donation was warmly received by members of the Muslim community, who expressed appreciation to the MP, the MCE, and the government for the gesture during the important Islamic celebration.
“Dr. Francis-Xavier Sosu advised the youth that the world is changing rapidly, and as young people, we must remember that our lives are in our own hands. What we become tomorrow and the future we build depend on the investments we make in ourselves today.
He encouraged everyone to invest positive energy into their education and training, especially vocational and technical skills development.

According to him, vocational training remains one of the most effective tools for tackling youth unemployment across the world.
He noted that countries such as China and India have made significant progress through technology, skills training, and apprenticeship systems.
He further explained that many of the things we use every day are products of artisanal skills and apprenticeship, from the microphone used for speaking, to the clothes people wear, and even the gadgets they carry.
Dr. Sosu emphasized that apprenticeship and artisanal training can provide hope and opportunities for many young people, particularly those who may have dropped out of school.
He also encouraged students and graduates at every level — whether holding a diploma, bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or PhD — to complement their academic qualifications with practical skills.
He concluded by expressing his belief that combining education with skills training is key to transforming communities and building a stronger nation. He ended by wishing everyone a joyful and fulfilling day.”
