President John Dramani Mahama has pledged to accelerate the completion and full operationalization of the long-awaited Kumasi Military Hospital at Afari, situated in the Central Command.
Addressing the audience at the Ghana Military Academy’s graduation ceremony, Mahama outlined his vision for a revitalized and well-equipped Ghana Armed Forces.
Central to this vision, he explained, is the provision of top-tier healthcare facilities for service members and their families—a critical need he intends to fulfill.
“We possess a viable and comprehensive vision to upgrade your medical health facilities. Consequently, we will complete and equip the Kumasi Military Hospital at Afari in the Central Command,” he announced.
He further revealed that funding had also been secured for a new military field hospital in Tamale, extending access to quality healthcare across multiple regions.
But Mr. Mahama’s promises were not limited to healthcare.
He took the opportunity to unveil a broader, transformative plan to enhance the well-being of both active and retired military personnel.
This includes better working conditions, fair and timely compensation, and an overhaul of the retirement benefits system.
He highlighted the role of GEHOC (Ghana Economic Housing Company) as a financial backbone to sustainably support the Armed Forces.
“Dear military personnel and civilian staff, I am resolute in my determination to systematically improve your conditions of service… For our retired personnel who have made immense sacrifices for our nation, we will ensure that your retirement benefits are disbursed promptly,” he stated.
The ceremony, attended by senior military officials, government dignitaries, and families of the graduating cadets, was marked by enthusiastic support for Mr. Mahama’s vision.
His address not only reignited optimism about stalled military infrastructure projects but also reaffirmed a broader national agenda to honor and uplift those who serve.
