The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of one Ernest Mohammed Adjiri for the unlawful possession of narcotic drugs following a special intelligence-led operation carried out by the National Highway Patrol Unit.
The arrest took place in the Greater Accra Region, where officers intercepted a Hyundai i10 taxi with registration number GW 9832-22.

Upon inspection, law enforcement officials discovered three fertilizer sacks concealed in the vehicle.
These sacks contained a total of 120 slabs of compressed dried leaves, which are suspected to be cannabis or another form of narcotic substance.
According to police sources, the operation was conducted based on credible intelligence regarding suspicious drug trafficking activities in the area.
Upon his arrest and subsequent interrogation, Mohammed Adjiri reportedly admitted ownership of the substances found in the vehicle.

The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue.
Authorities have indicated that he will be arraigned before the court in the coming days to face charges related to drug possession and trafficking.
This arrest forms part of ongoing efforts by the Ghana Police Service and the Narcotics Control Commission to clamp down on the trafficking and distribution of illegal drugs across the country.
The police have reaffirmed their commitment to tackling drug-related crimes and have urged the public to provide timely information that may lead to further arrests.
