Authorities Bust Illegal Cannabis Liqueur Factory Hidden in Poultry Farmhouse in Offinso

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) and the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) have uncovered an illegal cannabis-infused liqueur production hub concealed in a two-bedroom house located within a poultry farm at Ntiribuoho, in the Offinso Municipality of Ghana’s Ashanti Region.

The raid, prompted by a tip-off, was carried out by a team of seven officers—four from NACOC and three from the FDA.

Upon storming the premises, they discovered and seized significant quantities of unapproved alcoholic beverages and suspected narcotic substances, all believed to be part of an unlicensed production scheme.

One individual was arrested on-site, while several others are believed to have fled the scene. Law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing the remaining suspects.

The operation exposed a clandestine factory producing a locally known illicit drink marketed as Famude or Kings Orange Flavoured Liqueur.

This beverage was being manufactured and distributed without the necessary regulatory approvals, sparking serious concerns over consumer safety and public health risks.

Authorities have emphasized the dangers posed by such unregulated substances, particularly those infused with cannabis, which can have unpredictable and harmful effects on users.

They have vowed to intensify nationwide surveillance and crackdowns on similar illegal activities.

“This is a wake-up call,” said an FDA spokesperson.

These operations are not only illegal but also extremely dangerous to public health.

We will continue to work with all relevant agencies to ensure such substances are removed from circulation.”
