Protection, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, says government is adopting a data-driven approach to target social protection interventions in communities where vulnerabilities are highest.
Speaking at a community dialogue in Ledzokuku, she said the Assembly’s newly established victim support fund is an example of how local data can inform practical solutions.
“This is what I was saying, we are moving according to data where you have most people being abused. In Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly you realise that they said they set up a fund,” she noted.
The fund is designed to help victims cover costs for medical reports and legal processes, removing financial barriers that often force people to drop cases.
Dr. Lartey urged other MMDAs to emulate the model by allocating part of their IGF or making provisions in Common Fund guidelines.
She stressed that social protection requires a “whole of society, whole of community approach” involving chiefs, religious leaders, civil society, and government.
The Minister reaffirmed that the Ministry will continue nationwide engagements to educate citizens on their rights and ensure no one is left behind in Ghana’s development agenda.
The Ministry in collaborations with the National Health Insurance Authority rolled out free NHIS registration for first-time registrants as well as free Renewal for expired subscribers to enable swift healthcare access.
