Pru East MP Applauds Government’s Economic Strategy, Hails Agricultural Growth
Following the presentation of the Mid-Year Budget Review by the Finance Minister, the Member of Parliament for Pru East, Emmanuel Kwaku Boam, has commended the government’s economic policy direction, particularly its emphasis on agriculture.
Citing a notable 26.1% growth in the agricultural sector, Hon. Boam attributed this progress to deliberate government interventions and strategic prioritization of the sector.
He underscored the importance of agricultural development as a key driver of broader economic growth.
“The agricultural sector’s performance is pivotal. It shows we’re making gains in the right areas,” the MP stated.
He noted that the government’s focus on expanding the economy—despite global and domestic challenges—reflects a positive trajectory.
According to him, the projected real GDP growth of 4% is evidence that the economic policies in place are effective and yielding results.
Responding to criticism from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), the Pru East legislator defended the government’s spending, describing it as targeted and strategic.
“The funds being released are not just being spent—there’s a plan, and it’s working.
The economy is bouncing back, confidence in the cedi is growing, and we cannot underestimate that, “ he said.
In a sharp jab at the opposition, Hon. Boam remarked, “If I were in the minority, I couldn’t have sat through the mess the NPP created in the economy.
They always said they had the men, but we have the man—Ato Forson—and he has made them feel the heat.”
He concluded by questioning the credibility of the NPP’s past leadership, suggesting their MPs wouldn’t have stayed to hear the Finance Minister outline the current administration’s gains.
