IDEG and CFI Mourn the Loss of National Leaders and Security Personnel

The Institute for Democratic Governance (IDEG) and the Civic Forum Initiative (CFI) express deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives following the recent accident that claimed the lives of several distinguished public servants and military officers.

We mourn the passing of:

  • Hon. Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence

  • Hon. Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science and Technology

  • Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator

  • Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)

  • Mr. Samuel Aboagye, Former Parliamentary Candidate

  • Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala

  • Flying Officer Twum Ampadu

  • Flight Sergeant Ernest Addo

We extend our heartfelt condolences to their spouses, children, families, and loved ones.

To the President of the Republic, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the Government of Ghana, the Ghana Armed Forces, and the leadership and members of the National Democratic Congress, we offer our deepest sympathies during this time of national grief.

This tragic incident is a painful loss for the nation. We pray for comfort and strength for all affected and for the eternal rest of our departed compatriots.

IDEG and CFI fully support a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding this accident and urge the implementation of appropriate measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
