As part of his ongoing “Account to the People Tour,” the Member of Parliament for Madina, Hon. Francis-Xavier Sosu, has made a significant contribution toward improving security infrastructure and emergency response capabilities within the La-Nkwantanang Madina Municipality.
The comprehensive donation, valued at approximately GH¢300,000, includes:
13 motorbikes, 40 streetlights, GH¢50,000 and 100 bags of cement for police housing infrastructure, GH¢20,000 in seed funding for a mechanized borehole for the Fire Service, 100 packs of bottled waterand other essential items to enhance peacekeeping and emergency response.
These resources are targeted at equipping both the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service in the municipality to better serve the community, address rising crime rates, and ensure a more responsive emergency system.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Hon. Sosu emphasized the challenges he faced in securing similar support under the previous government.
“In my first four years as Member of Parliament, despite all efforts, I couldn’t secure even a single motorbike for the Police Service in Madina.
But in just nine months under the leadership of H.E. John Dramani Mahama and Hon. Muntaka Mohammed, we’ve been able to secure 13 motorcycles that will be distributed to various police stations and the Fire Service in the municipality,” he said.
Hon. Sosu announced a GH¢50,000 commitment and donation of 100 bags of cement to begin construction of the protective wall.
Additionally, the Fire Service, which often struggles with water accessibility, received GH¢20,000 as seed funding for a mechanized borehole project to address their operational needs.
Hon. Sosu expressed his heartfelt gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama, Interior Minister Hon. Muntaka Mohammed, and all stakeholders involved in making the donations possible.
“All these efforts are part of a broader initiative by H.E. John Dramani Mahama to enhance security and lay the foundation for a 24-hour economy,” he stated.
