The Tema Regional Police Command has successfully foiled an attempted armed robbery at Community 24 in the Adjei-Kojo District of the Ashaiman Division, Tema Region, resulting in the death of three suspected robbers.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, December 21, 2025, at about 1:30 a.m., when the Ashaiman Divisional Police Intelligence Team received a tip-off about an ongoing robbery at a private residence in the area.

Acting swiftly on the intelligence, a police team was dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers encountered six young men wearing face masks and hoodies and armed with machetes, firearms, and other offensive weapons.

The suspects reportedly opened fire on the police, prompting the officers to return fire. In the ensuing exchange, three of the suspects were fatally wounded and later pronounced dead, while the remaining three—believed to have sustained gunshot wounds—escaped from the scene.

Police retrieved several items from the area, including three face masks, three machetes, and one unregistered Royal 125 motorbike.

The bodies of the deceased suspects have been conveyed to the Police Hospital for preservation, identification, and autopsy.

As part of ongoing investigations, hospitals and health facilities within the locality have been alerted to inform the police via emergency lines should any male individuals report with gunshot wounds.

The Tema Regional Police Command has commended the operational team for their prompt and professional response.

Members of the public are also encouraged to continue supporting the Police with timely and credible information to help maintain peace and security in the community.
