The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has foiled a planned robbery along the Anwiankwanta–Obuasi Highway after shooting three suspected armed robbers dead.
According to the police, officers intercepted the suspects—identified as Seidu Issah, Musah Yakubu, and Yahaya Munkaila, also known as *Tijan*—on December 24, 2025, while they were allegedly preparing to carry out the robbery.
Police said the suspects opened fire on the officers, who returned fire. In the exchange, the three suspects were shot and later pronounced dead. Two other suspected accomplices reportedly escaped with gunshot wounds.

A search at the scene led to the recovery of firearms, including pump-action guns and a pistol, as well as quantities of ammunition.
The police believe the suspects were involved in several robbery attacks in the region, including incidents near Jacobu Airport and along the Manso stretch of the highway.
Investigations are ongoing to trace the source of the weapons recovered and to arrest the remaining accomplices.
