Tatale Sanguli MP Urged Farmers to Exercise Restraint While Gov’t Reset Cocoa Sector

Member of Parliament for the Tatale Sanguli of the Zabzugu/Tatale Constituency is urging farmers to exercise restraint as government resolves the challenges facing the cocoa industry.

Speaking in an interview, Honourable William Ayo Ntebe explained that the administration is working to address the issue of unpaid farmers, citing world market prices and the need to solve the problem.

Honourable Ntebe noted that the previous administration had created the mess, and the current government is trying to fix it, albeit with some painful decisions.

“We are not making it, they created a mess and we are coming to claim it,” he said, adding that the government is working to manage the situation.

With over a million cocoa farmers in Ghana, the government knows it needs to get this right, he said.

He noted that the CEO of COCOBOD has been working tirelessly to address the issue.

The opposition has criticized the government’s handling of the issue, but the government insists it’s working to solve the problem, not create more issues.
