A young woman identified as Judith Kidith Serwaa Ampaafo Appiah has reportedly gone into hiding after allegedly breaching a surrogacy agreement with a couple based in Germany.
According to accounts surrounding the case, the woman had entered into a surrogacy arrangement with the couple and was paid GH¢100,000 as part of the agreement.
She is said to have received additional support, including accommodation, monthly allowances, feeding expenses, and financial assistance toward a tricycle business to ensure her comfort throughout the pregnancy.
Reports indicate that after delivering the baby at the 37 Military Hospital, she allegedly left the facility with the child and could not be reached by the intended parents.
Sources claim that several attempts by the couple to contact her have been unsuccessful. In the few instances where communication was reportedly established, she allegedly rejected their demands and used harsh language toward them.
The woman is also said to have signed legal documents prior to the arrangement, agreeing to the terms of the surrogacy deal.
However, the enforceability of such agreements depends on Ghana’s legal framework governing surrogacy, which can be complex and subject to interpretation.
It remains unclear whether the matter has been formally reported to law enforcement or is being pursued through the courts.
Legal experts note that surrogacy disputes often involve sensitive legal and ethical considerations, particularly regarding parental rights and the welfare of the child.
Further developments are expected as the situation unfolds.
