Mahama Gov’t Will Address CLOGSAG Concerns-Wenchi MP optimistic

The suspension of the strike by the Civil Service and Local Government Service Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has been welcomed by the Member of Parliament for Wenchi, who is optimistic that the government will meet the demands of the striking workers.

Speaking in parliament, the Wenchi MP noted that the government has assured the workers that their concerns are being addressed and has promised to resolve the issues within two weeks.

“I have the hope that, definitely, by these two weeks, something positive will come out of it, and they will all be happy and go back to their workplace happy,” he said.

The MP, who is also a member of the Local Government Committee, had earlier expressed concerns about the frequent strikes by workers, saying they often seem to be influenced by opposition parties.

However, he emphasized the need for workers to consider the government’s policy implementation phase when deciding to embark on strike action.

The strike, which was suspended pending negotiations, had affected various government agencies, with workers demanding better working conditions and benefits.

The Petition Committee, of which the Wenchi MP is the ranking member, is working with the government to address the concerns of the striking workers.

Negotiations are ongoing, with a resumption of talks scheduled for next week on Tuesday.

The committee is advising workers to return to work while negotiations continue, assuring them that their concerns are being heard and addressed.

The Local Government Committee is also working to show solidarity with the striking workers, with the committee chair set to meet with them to assure them that they are not alone in their struggle.

The Wenchi MP urged workers to consider the government’s position and the impact of their actions on the country, saying, “We are with them, we sympathize with them, but we plead with them to consider it with their decisions.”

The government has assured the workers that their concerns are being addressed, and the Wenchi MP is optimistic that the government will deliver on its promise.
