Students of Our Lady of Grace Senior High School located within the Kwabre East Constituency have been celebrated in Parliament by a group of lawmakers after winning top positions at the World Robotics Championship.

The Kwabre East MP,Honourable Onyinah-Acheampong Akwasi Gyamfi hosted the team, describing their performance as a proud moment for Ghana as they competed against countries like the US, Hong Kong, and China.

The students placed first in one category, third in another, and fourth in a third category at the global competition.

According to the MP, their achievement put Ghana on the world robotics map.

“They flew the flag of Ghana so high,” he said, something that was rare for a Ghanaian school to excel at that level against nations known for advanced technology.

As part of the recognition, the MP invited the students to Parliament, spoke to them, and took them to a committee meeting giving them a feel of legislative work.

He also presented a cash reward to the contestants and their teachers.

“It was a proud moment for me as a Member of Parliament, as a proud constituent of Kwabre East, as a proud Asante person and as a proud Ghanaian,” he stated.

The MP used the engagement to advise the students on discipline and academic focus.

Hon. Onyina-Acheampong told them to “work hard, learn, keep to your books, be disciplined,” and invited colleague MPs to share other perspectives with them.

The students were also taken through the work of Parliament, including representation and advocacy.

He said the aim was for the students to apply what they learned and excel in future endeavours.

He described their success as proof that Ghanaian students can compete and win globally with the right support and commitment.
