TESCON Impact Chapter Holds Walk to Combat Drug Abuse Among Youth

Members of the TESCON Impact Chapter have organized a walk and awareness program aimed at educating young people on the dangers of drug abuse and promoting positive lifestyle choices.

The event brought together students and youth advocates who took to the streets to engage the public directly on the issue.

Organizers said the outreach was designed to move beyond talk and place responsibility on TESCON members to educate and engage their peers where it matters most.

Speaking at the program, representatives of the chapter, Elizabeth Adai Torgbor, stressed that the initiative was about service and advocacy rather than partisan politics.

They framed the campaign as a civic duty to protect the next generation from the social and health consequences of substance abuse.

Participants used the walk to distribute information and display placards with inscriptions such as: What you take in today will take from you tomorrow, #StopTakingDrugs, Notice: Say no smoking, No drug, no alcohol, Notice: Smoking Causes Cancer, amongst others.

The group held conversations with young people and encouraged choices that support education and personal development.

The goal, they said, was to create a visible presence that reinforces the message that drug abuse undermines both individual futures and community progress.

TESCON Impact Chapter members noted that peer-to-peer engagement remains one of the most effective ways to reach young people who may be at risk or misinformed about drug use.

By leading the campaign themselves, they hope to build trust and sustain the conversation beyond a single event.

The chapter said the walk forms part of a broader plan to continue sensitization efforts across campuses and communities.

Future activities will focus on workshops, school visits, and collaborations with other youth groups to expand reach and impact.

Organizers closed by calling on more youth groups to take ownership of social issues affecting their generation.

For the TESCON Impact Chapter, the message was clear: advocacy starts with showing up, speaking out, and committing to action where it can make a difference.
