Ketu South NDC Deputy Women’s Organizer Marks 30th Birthday with Donation to Inmates

The Deputy Women’s Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ketu South Constituency, Mrs. Xornam Favour Ignatus Dei, has marked her 30th birthday by reaching out to some of the constituency’s most vulnerable residents, donating food, toiletries and other essential items to inmates held in police cells across the municipality.

As part of her birthday celebrations on June 6, 2026, Mrs. Dei visited all five police cells within the Ketu South Police Division, where she interacted with inmates and donated items aimed at improving their welfare and boosting their morale.

The initiative, she said, was motivated by compassion and a desire to share her special day with people who are often forgotten by society.

“This gesture is purely humanitarian,” Mrs. Dei explained. “It is about spreading hope, compassion and encouragement to individuals in custody and reminding them that they are not forgotten.”

During the visits, the NDC constituency executive engaged inmates in brief conversations, offering words of encouragement and urging them to remain hopeful about their future despite their current circumstances.

The donated items included food supplies, toiletries, and other basic necessities intended to support the daily needs of inmates while in police custody.

According to Mrs. Dei, birthdays provide an opportunity not only for personal reflection and celebration but also for giving back to society and making a positive difference in the lives of others.

She noted that people in detention often face emotional and psychological challenges, making acts of kindness and human connection particularly important.

“Many people behind bars feel isolated and neglected. Sometimes, a simple gesture of kindness can restore hope and remind them that they still matter,” she said.

The outreach formed part of her broader commitment to community service and social responsibility, values she said should guide public servants and political leaders regardless of their positions.

Residents and community members who learned of the initiative have praised the gesture, describing it as a demonstration of empathy and a reminder that humanitarian service can be carried out beyond political activities.

Mrs. Dei also called on individuals, religious organizations, civil society groups, and corporate bodies to support vulnerable populations within their communities, including persons in custody, the elderly, children in care homes, and others facing difficult circumstances.

“Celebrations become more meaningful when they are used as an opportunity to touch lives and bring hope to others,” she said.

The visit concluded with the presentation of the donated items to inmates across the five police cells, as well as interactions with officers within the division.
