A coalition of over 50 New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Chairmen and leaders of identifiable groups have picked nomination forms for Hon. Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko to contest the position of National Chairman.
The forms were picked on Monday, August 18, 2026, at the NPP National Headquarters in Accra in what supporters described as a show of grassroots solidarity and confidence.
In a statement, the Boakye Agyarko Campaign said the action marks a pivotal milestone in the party’s internal democratic process and affirms a mandate that began two years ago.
It recalled that during a Conference of NPP Constituency Chairpersons held in Kumasi in 2025, the frontline leadership made a clarion call to Mr. Agyarko to lead the party’s reorganization efforts.
“Today’s action at the National Headquarters serves as a strong affirmation of the unshakeable confidence the Chairpersons have in Boakye Agyarko,” the statement said.
The event, witnessed by party activists, sympathizers and the media, is seen by the campaign as a signal that the rank and file view Mr. Agyarko as the architect for the party’s renewal ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Speaking for the delegation after picking the forms, spokesperson for the group, Mr. Stephen Kojo Arhin, NPP Chairman for Cape Coast North, described the move as a strategic necessity for securing victory for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2028 Presidential Election.
“The NPP needs more than just a party Chairman; we require a leader with the vision, discipline, and strategic depth to unify our ranks and rebuild the grassroots in support of our flagbearer. Hon. Boakye Agyarko is the most experienced strategist for this critical moment in our history,” he said.
Mr. Agyarko expressed gratitude to the Chairmen for the gesture, promising to build a strong party that serves as a solid bridge for Dr. Bawumia to win the 2028 elections and for the NPP to win majority parliamentary seats when elected.
“The Boakye Agyarko Campaign expresses its profound gratitude to the Constituency Chairpersons, the identifiable groups and the teeming supporters across the country whose contributions and prayers continue to fuel this movement for a stronger, more united New Patriotic Party,” the statement added.
