The Member of Parliament for Madina, Hon. Dr. Francis-Xavier Sosu, has donated school supplies to orphans and needy but brilliant children within Muslim communities in the Madina Municipality.
The donation was made through the MP’s Islam Project under in partnership with Race 4 Aid, a non-governmental organization.
Items distributed included exercise books, school bags, pens, pencils, erasers, calculators, footwear and other essential learning materials to support the beneficiaries in their education.
Speaking on behalf of the MP, the Deputy Chief of Staff at the Office of the Madina MP, Bright Makafui, said the gesture forms part of Dr. Sosu’s commitment to supporting vulnerable children and promoting education in the constituency.
Delivering the MP’s message, Mr. Makafui expressed gratitude to the Executive Director of Race 4 Aid, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Ibrahim Fuseini Faila, and all dignitaries present at the ceremony.
“I will touch on two important things that he mentioned to me. The first one being that if you are familiar with his story, he was raised by an orphanage,” Mr. Makafui said.
“So everything that has to do with orphans, he is so much committed to it. And he goes every length to make sure that the best he can offer the needy and the economically disadvantaged in the constituency, he will do it.”
He added that education remains a top priority for the MP, with a significant portion of his common fund dedicated to educational support.
“Number two, the fact that when you come to his office, about 60-70% of his common fund is dedicated towards educational activities in the constituency. So every now and then, the MP is so much committed to paying school fees, buying books, everything that has to do with education for the constituents,” he explained.
“So he believes so much in this vision, and he pledges his dedication, his support, that every time that Brace for Aid knocks on his door, he is ever ready to support and lend a helping hand. So we thank you so much for this opportunity, and we pray that all the beneficiaries will put all these resources into good use,” he added.
On his part, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly (LaNMMA), Hon. Ibrahim Fuseini Faila, reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to supporting education, particularly within the Muslim communities in the municipality.
He commended the MP and Brace for Aid for the partnership and urged beneficiaries to take their studies seriously to justify the investment being made in their future.
