Municipal Chief Executive(MCE) for the Krowor Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, Hon. Paul Afotey Quaye has disclosed that initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods are designed not only to support individual beneficiaries but also to positively impact the livelihoods of those around them.
The MCE explained in an interview last Saturday,September 5,2026 in Nungua at presentation of the MP’s Business Support Programme that such interventions serve as a way of stimulating the local economy and creating jobs within the municipality, ensuring that economic growth is felt at the community level.
The MCE noted that the Assembly often undertakes activities in the area of Local Economic Development (LED), which include skills training programmes for residents.
He said after such skills training, beneficiaries are typically equipped with tools to enable them start or sustain their businesses, describing the approach as similar to what was witnessed during the MP’s business support programme.
He however clarified that the Sixth Edition of the MP’s Business Support Programme(BSP) was exclusively funded by the Member of Parliament, and therefore he would not delve deeply into what the Assembly itself is doing in that regard.
Despite that, he indicated that the Assembly continues to implement its own LED activities, where residents are given various vocational and entrepreneurial skills to enhance their employability and self-reliance.
Mr. Afotey Quaye encouraged the public to follow the Assembly’s Facebook page, where many of such activities and skills training programmes are regularly documented and shared.
