Government Presents 128 ZondaTech SUVs To MMDCEs To Boost Local Governance

The Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs has presented 128 ZondaTech SUVs to Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to support their operations and improve local governance across the country.

The presentation ceremony, held in Accra, forms part of government’s efforts to resource the local government system and strengthen decentralization.

According to the Ministry, the vehicles are expected to enhance mobility for MMDCEs, enabling them to effectively monitor development projects, coordinate government programmes and respond promptly to the needs of communities within their jurisdictions.

The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, in presenting the vehicles, noted that efficient local governance requires adequate logistical support, and that the provision of the SUVs demonstrates government’s commitment to resourcing the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs).

He urged the beneficiaries to put the vehicles to good use and ensure they are properly maintained to serve the intended purpose of improving service delivery.

The Ministry indicated that the ZondaTech vehicles were assembled locally, in line with government’s policy to support local manufacturing and promote made-in-Ghana products.

Some MMDCEs who received the vehicles expressed gratitude to government and pledged to use them to accelerate development and deepen accountability at the local level.

The distribution of the 128 SUVs is expected to cover all MMDAs and significantly improve operational efficiency at the district level.
