Odododiodoo MP touts Local Government and Rural Development Committee as the machinery to reduce infractions

Following the commencement of the Local Government and Rural Development Committee of Parliament, the Odododiodoo Member of Parliament, Honourable Alfred Nii Ashie Kotey is expressing optimism of the Committee’s impact in preventing needles infractions.

He however bemoaned the fact that Chief Executive Officers appearing before the Committee of Parliament were unfortunately not the very ones who caused the needles infractions.

He is hopeful that steps will be taken to hold those culpable for such infractions  to bear the full rigors of the law.

The move, he indicated would ensure real accountability is ensured from duty-bearers.

That notwithstanding,Honourable Ashie Nii Kotey believes that the workings of the Committee would awaken the sense of reality in order to be circumspect in their dealings.

He stressed, ” This will make them put their books well as well as their finances to ensure that the anomalies unearned do not reoccur under their watch.”

“We have cautioned them that this government will not take any of these things lightly.

We have given them so much money than they have seen in the last 8-years.

It will take 2 to 3 years for the Assembly to get close to a million Ghana cedis or dollars”.

He alluded to the fact that with H.E. John Dramani Mahama’s administration had resourced the Assemblies less than a year with so much therefore much is required.

The MP is urging the Assemblies to make use of the funds judiciously in tangent with the Reset Agenda in order to engender the needed benefits.

“The President wants to see real development on the grounds so he has tasked the MMDCES to complete every uncompleted project within the various Assemblies should be completed.
