The Member of Parliament for the Tain Constituency, Honourable Sulemana Adams Ramsy, has expressed optimism that the 2026 budget will provide a comprehensive plan to address revenue generation, infrastructure development, and private sector growth.
In an interview, Hon. Sulemana highlighted key areas he expects the budget to focus on, including innovative strategies to boost revenue without increasing taxes, a clear roadmap for infrastructure development, and provisions for public sector workers.
He also predicted that the budget will outline measures to stimulate the private sector, drive employment, and promote economic growth.
“The budget is poised to play a crucial role in shaping Ghana’s economic trajectory,” Hon. Sulemana said.
“Given the ongoing IMF program and the need to meet revenue targets, I expect the budget to provide a clear direction for the country’s economic recovery,” he stated.
The MP also emphasized the importance of managing the public sector wage bill and creating sustainable jobs outside the public sector. “We need to focus on innovative job creation for our 33 million citizens,” he stressed.
Hon. Sulemana’s expectations for the budget’s impact on agriculture have been met, with provisions aimed at upscaling production and creating job opportunities in the sector.
Other MPs have raised concerns about underfunding social protection programs and the need for sustainable growth strategies, highlighting the importance of careful consideration in the budget’s implementation.
The 2026 budget is expected to be a critical milestone in Ghana’s economic development, with many stakeholders watching closely to see how it will address the country’s pressing economic challenges.
