The Member of Parliament for Bortianor Ngleshi Amanfro, Hon. Felix Okle Akwetey has expressed concern over the poor drainage system in his constituency, citing it as a major challenge facing residents.
Speaking in an interview in Parliament, Hon. Felix Okle Akwetey lamented that drainage system within the area has been a persistent problem, causing traffic congestion and flooding, especially during heavy rains.
According to the Bortianor Ngleshi Amanfro lawmaker situation in the constituency has become so dire that residents get stuck on the Kasoa-Mallam road due to flooding.
He recounted an incident where three lives were lost due to flooding in the area, emphasizing the need for urgent action.
“We cannot sit down for these things to reoccur,” he stressed.
The MP had earlier submitted a query to the Minister responsible seeking interventions and solutions to the drainage problem.
The Minister responded, acknowledging the challenges and assuring that attention would be given to address the issue.
Hon. Okle Akwetey expressed satisfaction with the response from the sector minister noting that the Minister had elaborated on efforts being made to tackle the problem.
The Minister’s response indicated that work had begun on constructing a drainage system, but Hon. Okle Akwetey noted that progress was slow.
The MP has been vocal about the need for improved infrastructure in his constituency and has been working to lobby support for development projects.
Residents of Kasoa are hopeful that the government’s intervention will bring relief to the area.
The drainage problem has been a longstanding issue, and the community is eager for a solution.
