Fufulso Junction Robbery/Murder: Police Arrest Two More Suspects, Total Now Five

A special joint police team deployed by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has arrested two additional suspects in connection with the Fufulso Junction robbery and murder case in the Savannah Region.

The latest arrests bring the total number of suspects in custody to five.

The operation was carried out by a team comprising personnel from the IGP’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team and the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters in Accra.

On March 12, 2026, the team arrested three suspects: Habibata Kojo, 29; Ibrahim Sumaila, 35; and Alhassan Yusif, believed to be about 40 years old. A day later, on March 13, 2026, two more suspects — Dramani Imoro, 24, and Sayibu Iddi, 50 — were also apprehended.

The arrests follow a violent robbery attack at Fufulso Junction on March 8, 2026, at about 7:30 p.m., which resulted in the killing of Mahama Majeed, a mobile money operator, and another person.

Following the incident, the IGP swiftly deployed the specialised team to support the Buipe District Police Command in investigating the case and tracking down the perpetrators.

Preliminary investigations indicate that six suspects, including one female, believed to be of Fulani extraction, attacked Golden Linq Ventures, a mobile money vending shop. The suspects were reportedly armed with AK-47 rifles concealed under long coats.

A search conducted at the residence of suspect Dramani Imoro led to the recovery of an unregistered Toyota Voxy vehicle, which police believe he purchased 72 hours after the robbery, as well as an unregistered Haojue motorbike and two smartphones.

All suspects and the retrieved exhibits are currently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations. Police say efforts are ongoing to track down other accomplices who remain at large.

The Police Administration has commended the officers involved in the operation for their swift response and professionalism in apprehending the suspects.

The public, particularly residents of the Savannah Region, is also being encouraged to volunteer credible information that could assist the police in locating other individuals connected to the crime.
