President Mills Posthumously Receives Ultimate Christian Honour for Distinguished Service to God and Country

Former President John Evans Atta Mills has been posthumously honoured with the Ultimate Christian Personality honour at the prestigious Christian Honours event, held at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

14 years after his passing, the late President was recognised in the posthumous category for his enduring legacy of faith, humility, and dedicated service to Ghana.

The award—comprising a citation, plaque, and medal—was received on his behalf by Samuel Koku Anyidoho, Founder and CEO of the MILLS Institute for Transformational Leadership Development, who described the moment as deeply humbling.

According to the citation, Atta-Mills lived a life marked by “faithful service, Godly leadership, and enduring impact.” It highlighted his more than four decades of work as a scholar, tax expert, and statesman, noting his quiet integrity and unwavering commitment to truth.

He was also recognised for earning the title “Asomdwehene” (King of Peace), reflecting his calm and measured leadership style, even under intense provocation.

The citation further commended his contributions to Ghana’s internal revenue systems and his role in establishing the National Day of Prayer—an initiative seen as anchoring the nation in spiritual reflection and unity.

Organisers said it was both “a privilege and a sacred duty” to honour a leader whose life exemplified faith, sacrifice, and integrity.

In his acceptance remarks, Mr. Anyidoho expressed gratitude to God and the organisers for what he described as a bold and meaningful recognition.“After 14 years, it is a very humbling moment to stand before this esteemed gathering of fathers of faith and the Body of Christ to receive this honour on behalf of our late President,” he said.

He dedicated the award to the late President, adding:

Quoting Proverbs 11:25, he further expressed appreciation to the organisers for their vision and commitment to celebrating Christian values.

Other posthumous honourees included Michael Ntumy, Annor Yeboah, Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, and Comfort Annor.

In additional categories, prominent Christian leaders such as Nicholas Duncan-Williams, Dag Heward Mills, and Mensah Otabil were also recognised.

Several major denominations—including the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Catholic Church, Anglican Church, and Church of Pentecost—received honours for their contributions to the Christian faith.

Gospel musicians such as Elder Mireku, Amy Newman, Tagoe Sisters, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, and Noble Nketiah were also among the honourees.

CHRISTIAN HONOURS, powered by MF Production, is a Ghanaian Christian ministry dedicated to celebrating and promoting Christian values and service.

Organisers described the 2026 ceremony as the inaugural edition of what is expected to become an annual event.
