The Chief Executive Officer of Zam Pac Company LTD, Alhaji Abdul Aziz Khalid, urges the government to support private companies with tax reliefs and reduced operational costs.

He called on the government to provide tariff exemptions, affordable electricity, and operational incentives to private companies to ensure the success of Ghana’s proposed 24-hour economy policy.

According to him, the private sector remains central to the implementation and sustainability of the initiative, stressing that businesses cannot effectively operate around the clock under high production costs and utility charges.

Speaking during the official commissioning of the Zam Pac bottling facility at Teiman-Abokobi in the Ga East Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, Alhaji Khalid said stronger collaboration between government and private enterprises would help achieve the policy’s intended economic transformation.

He noted that many private companies are already operating shift systems similar to the proposed 24-hour economy model, making them critical stakeholders in the initiative.

“The 24-hour economy can only succeed if government actively engages the private sector,” he stated. “Most private enterprises are already operating a one-job, three-shift system.

What businesses need now is support in the form of reduced electricity tariffs, tax reliefs, and fewer operational burdens.”

Alhaji Khalid explained that Zam Pac Company LTD has contributed significantly to employment creation in the Teiman-Abokobi area through its three-shift operational structure, which runs morning, afternoon, and evening schedules.

He said the company’s expansion has created job opportunities for many young people in the district and surrounding communities, helping to reduce unemployment while boosting local economic activity.

Also speaking at the event, the Director of Zam Pac Company LTD, Hajia Juweira Abdul Hameed, described the company’s Zam Mineral Water brand as pure, hygienic, and produced under high safety standards.

Hajia Abdul Hameed encouraged the public to patronize the product, adding that clean and hygienic water consumption plays an important role in preventing waterborne diseases, including typhoid fever and other health complications.

She further disclosed plans by the company to support the development of the road network linking Teiman-Abokobi to the factory premises to improve accessibility and transportation in the area.

“We are currently in discussions with the Municipal Chief Executive and have already made contributions toward the road project,” she revealed.

Meanwhile, the Manager of Zam Pac Company LTD, Pearl Nana Achiaa, announced the launch of the “Zam Widows Impact Project,” an initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable widows within communities through financial assistance and product donations.

According to her, the project, which is supported by the company’s new Zam Ice bottled water brand, seeks to improve the welfare of widows and their families.

“The Zam Widows Impact Project is designed to provide support for vulnerable widows through cash donations, product support, and other forms of assistance to help them cater for themselves and their families,” she said.

The commissioning of the new bottling facility marks another milestone for Zam Pac Company LTD as the company expands its production capacity and community impact initiatives within the Greater Accra Region.
