The Madina Job Center (MJC) has officially enrolled 120 young people into its vocational apprenticeship program during a vibrant matriculation ceremony held in Madina.
The event, attended by community leaders, trainers, families, and proud parents, marked the beginning of an exciting journey for the new apprentices, who will be trained in various trades such as tailoring, baking, hairstyling, barbering, shoemaking, makeup artistry, and nail technology.
The Madina Job Center, an initiative by the Member of Parliament for Madina, Mr. Francis-Xavier Sosu, aims to tackle youth unemployment by providing young people with practical skills for employment and entrepreneurship.
Since its inception, the center has successfully trained and supported numerous youths in the Madina constituency, offering skills training, job connections, and assistance in starting their businesses.
In her speech at the ceremony, the CEO of the Madina Job Center (MJC), Mrs. Priscilla Naa Aklerh Plange, explained that the program is not only about training artisans but also to help youth discover their purpose and build brighter futures.
“What we’re doing here is giving people hope and helping them believe their dreams are possible,” she said.
The event was chaired by the Chief of Danfa, Nii Djani Tsuru Afutu Brempong IV, and featured speeches from local leaders who commended Mr. Sosu for his commitment to bringing positive change to the Madina community.
The center is also expanding its efforts to incorporate entrepreneurship and digital skills training, providing more avenues for youth to succeed in today’s fast-evolving job market.
The CEO of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Mr. Osman Ayariga, praised Mr. Sosu for his dedication to youth empowerment and assured the Authority’s continued support for the initiative.
Ms. Joan Selasie Ahiawordor, Deputy CEO of the National Employment and Innovation Programme (NEIP), also expressed her appreciation for Mr. Sosu’s alignment with the President’s “Adwumawura Programme”.
She indicated NEIP’s commitment to collaborating with other stakeholders to promote entrepreneurship and job creation for young people across Ghana.
The program is currently funded by Mr. Sosu and a few private donors, but broader public support is needed, particularly in providing startup tools and equipment for trainees upon graduation. This support is crucial to scaling the impact on the Madina Job Center across the constituency.
For the 120 new apprentices, the matriculation ceremony marked not just an event but the beginning of a promising new chapter full of hope, hard work, and opportunity for success.
