Member of Parliament for the South Dayi Constituency and the Majority Chief Whip, Honourable Rockson Nelson Etse Defeamekpor has heaped praise on Honourable Alhaji Baba Jamal, describing him as a senior figure in national politics with a proven record of service to Nima, Mamobi, Kanda and its environs.

The Majority Chief Whip eulogized the Ayawaso East MP at the unveiling ceremony of the Constitucy Office of the MP, emphasizing the contributions of Alhaji Baba Jamal to the area spanning decades, dating back to their days as secondary school boys at the University of Ghana.

He noted that the former High Commissioner’s commitment to the people remains unmatched.

“Alhaji Baba Jamal is not a today’s man. He’s not a first man in Nima Mamobi Kanda 44189. It is his time. It is to serve the people of Nima and to support the market women,” he said.

24-Hour Underground Market and Interest-Free Loans

The MP highlighted two major interventions credited to Alhaji Baba Jamal.

He said efforts are underway to build a 24-hour underground market for traders, and that the former MP is also providing interest-free loans from his own pocket to support market women.

“From his own pocket he’s giving an interest free loan. It’s not every MP who has done it. So we need to copy his model and encourage that MP to do it” he stated.

Call To Produce More Lawyers and Doctors

He also announced plans to mentor young graduates in the area to pursue law and medicine.

According to him, he has arranged with lawyers to guide community members undertaking graduate studies, stressing the need for more professionals to serve Nima.

“There’s nothing better than being a lawyer for life. If you have a lawyer and doctor in your house anytime they’re struggling you have somebody who will bring solution,” he said.

Community Development Commitment

The MP pledged his readiness to support development in Nima and Mamobi at all times.

He said the community has for long needed legal and medical support, citing instances where he had to travel to defend minor cases at the Nima Police Station.

“I am available. Alhaji Mao Alhaji Baba Jamal. I’m available. Every time you need my help with Nima Mamobi I come,” he added.

Encouraging Good Leadership

He concluded by urging constituents to recognize and encourage good leadership.

“When the MP is good, when the leader is good we have to say it. We have to praise him and encourage him to do more,” he said, calling for collective efforts to develop and modernize the communities.
