The Ashanti Regional Police Command has launched a series of high-impact operations that have led to the arrest of multiple suspects involved in armed robbery, drug trafficking, and a long-standing murder investigation.
These coordinated efforts reflect a renewed commitment by regional law enforcement to curb violent crime and dismantle organized criminal networks in the region.

Swift Response Halts Armed Robbery in Kenyasi
On Thursday, May 8, police patrol units responded rapidly to a distress call following an armed robbery incident in Kenyasi.
Three suspects—Umar Issah (26), Sherif Mohammed (20), and Abdul Jalilu (19)—were arrested after allegedly robbing two residents at gunpoint and fleeing the scene on motorbikes. The victims were reportedly dispossessed of their mobile phones.
The suspects were intercepted during a high-speed police chase.
Sherif Mohammed sustained a gunshot wound, while the others were injured in the process of apprehension.
All three are currently receiving treatment under police guard at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
Authorities have recovered the stolen items, and the motorbikes used in the robbery, which will serve as critical evidence in the ongoing investigation.

Narcotics Bust in Aboabo No.1 Uncovers Large Drug Cache
In a separate operation conducted on May 10, officers from the Airport District Police apprehended Adam Mohamed, 29, for his alleged involvement in narcotics trafficking.
A search of his premises in Aboabo No.1 yielded significant quantities of Tramadol—35 packs of 250mg, 28 packs of 120mg, and 11 packs of 225mg—along with GHS 66,950 suspected to be proceeds from illegal drug sales. Mohamed remains in custody as further investigations are carried out.

Breakthrough in 2016 Cold Case: Murder Suspect Arrested
One of the most notable achievements of the recent operations was the arrest of Michael Owusu Ansah, popularly known as “Baby Last.”
Wanted since 2016 for the murder of Police Officer G/Cpl Frank Essel during a robbery at the Open Space Hotel in Denchemuoso, Owusu Ansah was finally apprehended by the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID).

Following his arrest, the suspect reportedly confessed to a string of armed robberies across Denchemuoso, Atwima-Techiman, and Asuoyeboah.
His confession led to the arrest of four accomplices: Emmanuel Owusu (aka Cassidy), Maxwell Gyimah (aka Nana Kwame), Sudais Oxford Ntiamoah (aka The Man Sudais), and Rhano Okyere (aka Demon).
A fifth accomplice, identified as Abedi, is still on the run. All apprehended suspects were arraigned before the Atasomanso Circuit Court on May 13 and have been remanded into custody until their next hearing scheduled for June 4.
Mass Arrests in Thinka Island Drug Raid
In a large-scale operation targeting Thinka Island, law enforcement officers arrested 34 individuals suspected of engaging in drug trafficking.
The raid, carried out under the directive of Interior Minister Mr. Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, resulted in the seizure of various illicit substances and cash believed to be proceeds from narcotics sales.
Details of the operation, including the types of drugs recovered, are still emerging.

Regional Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Godwin Ahianyo, emphasized the force’s dedication to maintaining public safety.
“We remain committed to ensuring safety and security across the Ashanti Region. These operations are just the beginning of a sustained effort to root out criminal networks,” he said.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities as part of a broader community partnership to enhance security.
