The New Patriotic Party (NPP) calls on President John Mahama to immediately interdict Mr. Sammy Gyamfi, acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), to allow for an independent investigation into his conduct.

This follows a widely circulated video showing Mr. Gyamfi gifting bundles of US dollars to controversial self-styled evangelist, Nana Agradaa, from his Range Rover on Saturday, May 10, 2025.

NPP’s Official Response
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, May 13, NPP National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye emphasized the importance of consistency and accountability in public office.

“We call on the President to immediately interdict Mr. Sammy Gyamfi as acting CEO of GoldBod—at the very least, pending a criminal investigation,” Boakye asserted.

Drawing Parallels: The Cecilia Dapaah Precedent
Boakye contrasted Gyamfi’s case with the resignation of former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Dapaah, who stepped aside after it emerged that large sums of money were allegedly stolen from her home.

“Cecilia Dapaah had served in public office for over four decades. Yet, under President Akufo-Addo’s leadership, she stepped aside swiftly to allow investigations by the Office of the Special Prosecutor,” Boakye noted.

He recalled that the OSP conducted a seven-month investigation and a four-month collaborative inquiry into the matter.

Leadership and Integrity Under Scrutiny
Boakye argued that President Mahama’s leadership is being tested, especially after launching his administration’s code of conduct just a week ago.

“The President is being put to the test on his commitment to the values he claims to uphold,” Boakye said, stressing that the incident undermines public confidence in government ethics.

Broader Criticism of the Mahama Administration
Boakye also took aim at the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, accusing him of evading corruption allegations by threatening political opponents rather than addressing the claims.

According to Boakye, “Instead of responding to the allegations, the Attorney-General has chosen to threaten to ‘play in the mud’ with an MP. This is unbecoming of a top legal officer.”

A Call for Swift Presidential Action
Boakye concluded by urging President Mahama to take decisive action against both Gyamfi and Ayine.

“We want to see action.

We call on the President to demonstrate true leadership—this is not the time to reward irresponsible behaviour.

The NPP is pressing for transparency, good governance, and accountability, arguing that failure to act will erode public trust in Mahama’s administration,” Boakye stated.
