Police Seize 11 Sacks of Suspected Narcotics in Ayi Mensah: Two Arrested

On June 7, 2025, the Ghana Police Service apprehended two individuals, Mathew Narkotey and Augustine Teye, for allegedly possessing 11 large, compressed sacks containing a substance suspected to be narcotics.

The arrests occurred during a routine patrol by the National Operations Department (NOD) in the Ayi Mensah area of the Greater Accra Region.

The suspects were found traveling in a Mazda pick-up truck with registration number GT 3490-P.

Upon conducting a search, officers discovered the concealed suspected narcotic substances within the vehicle.

Both the vehicle and the substances have been impounded and are currently secured at the Joint Operations Centre for further investigation.

Both suspects are presently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations.

Authorities are also attempting to locate an individual named Martey, identified by the suspects as the intended recipient of the consignment.

This operation underscores the Ghana Police Service’s commitment to combating the illegal narcotics trade and ensuring the safety and security of the public.
