Sunyani West MP pushes for review of Anti-vigilante law

Despite the deliberate and conscious efforts made by Parliament in crafting a law aimed at stemming the tide of the activities of vigilante groups across the country, the outspoken Sunyani West Member of parliament, Hon. Millicent Yeboah Amankwah decried the hollow-like nature of the law.

Hon. Millicent is urging legislators to critically examine the law ensuring it address extreme excesses linked to elections perpetuated by politicians.

According to her, addressing excesses of irate youth particularly at elections in Ghana, will be a sure way to mitigate challenges of electoral violence.

She is therefore making a passionate appeal for a review of the Anti-vigilante law.

Her demands follow what is considered “impotent nature” of the law to deal
holistically with culprits of electoral violence.

It is an evident truth that members or supporters of political parties hide to foment trouble at electoral venues, a matter she considers unacceptable practice therefore calling for an overhaul.

Honourable Member highlighted the need for leaders’ comments before, during and after elections to be circumspect in order not to inflate passion but help restore peace.

Lady Milly, explore honourable members to be circumspect in their comments as they may have high potentials of raking havoc thereby jeopardising the sanctity of democracy.

The relentless lady Milly defiled all odds by way of heckling from the members of the Minority in Parliament to make her comments.
