Member of Parliament for Kwadaso constituency, Honourable Kingsley Nyarko has emphasized the need for the government to collect data on traditional religion in Ghana, arguing that this information is crucial for planning and policy purposes.
The lawmaker noted that while the population census provides numbers on Christians and Muslims, there is a lack of data on traditional religions, making it difficult to include this sector in the country’s socio-economic framework.
“We need to find ways to collect this data, even if it’s challenging, to ensure all segments of society are included in Ghana’s development,” Honourable Professor Kingsley Nyarko said.
The call highlights the importance of data-driven decision-making in addressing the needs of all Ghanaians, including those who practice traditional religion.
The government has been urged to work with statistical services and district assemblies to fill this gap and ensure that no segment of society is left behind.
