The Member of Parliament for Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro, Felix Okle Akwetey has labeled attacks on members of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operation Secretariat (NAIMOS) in Hwediem as unfortunate, unacceptable condemnable, cautioning against its reoccurrence.
It will recalled that a gang of thugs attacked and assaulted the NAIMOS team who were in line of duty in Bronikrom near Hwediem in the Ahafo Region few days ago which act, the MP decried as a disincentive to collective success.
The lawmaker noted that the NAIMOS team had the express mandate in protecting the country against the existential threat of illegal mining activities, and must be supported by all.
He strongly condemned the incident in no uncertain terms.
Hon. Okle Akwetey continued that the war against illegal mining is a collective action, and not only for the politicians.
He courted all Ghanaians to joined the fight by playing their civil role in giving tip-offs and supporting security agencies to clampdown on galamsey.
