A 38-year-old driver with the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Godsway Kwaku Dogbey, has been arrested in Ho in the Volta Region for allegedly transporting suspected Indian hemp valued at over GH¢1 million.

The arrest followed the interception of an American Ford bus, with registration number GV 2460-14, belonging to the Volta Regional Health Directorate.

The vehicle was stopped on Friday at the Tarso Hotel area in Ho after a dramatic pursuit involving multiple police units.

Police sources say the suspect was apprehended while conveying a large quantity of the suspected narcotic substance concealed in the vehicle.

The suspect is expected to be arraigned before court as police intensify efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
