A Basic Five pupil of Falahiyat E/A Primary School in the Savannah Region is battling for his life at the St. Anne Catholic Hospital in Damongo following an alleged assault by a teacher.
The incident reportedly occurred after the pupil scored two out of eight in a homework assignment. According to information gathered, the teacher, identified as Mr. Fatawu, allegedly ordered the victim and his classmates to lie across dual desks in the classroom before whipping them with a wire cane.
The pupil is said to have sustained severe injuries to his back and other parts of the body, leaving him in critical condition and requiring urgent medical attention.
The incident has sparked concern among parents and members of the community, with calls for thorough investigations into the matter and accountability for those responsible.
Authorities are expected to take up the case as investigations continue.
