2026 SONA: Dr. Jasaw Highlights Significant Progress in Agricultural Sector

The Chairman of the Food and Agriculture Committee in Parliament, Dr. Godfred Seidu Jasaw, has praised President Mahama’s State of the Nation Address, highlighting significant progress in the agriculture sector.

“The report on the agriculture sector is impressive… it’s supporting the purchasing power of the average Ghanaian,” he said.

Dr. Jasaw noted that food price inflation has dropped drastically to about 4%, making life more affordable for Ghanaians.

“It’s a refreshing message, and it’s significant,” he added, expressing optimism about the impact on the economy.

The MP for Wa East also commended the president’s announcement of investments in the oil palm and other related sectors, saying it will help diversify the economy’s productive capacity.

“He also announced investments in the sector, the green gold, um, the oil palm, and other related sectors, so that we can diversify the base of our productive capacity of this economy,” he said.

According to Dr. Jasaw, these initiatives will have a positive impact on local farmers and the broader economy. He expressed excitement about the potential benefits, saying,

“I think that is impressive, and it’s a refreshing message.”

Dr. Jasaw’s comments reflect the government’s confidence in its agricultural policies, wyith citizens expected to benefit from the sector’s progress.

The MP’s remarks underscore the importance of agriculture in driving Ghana’s economic growth and development.
