The Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment has signed two strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Design and Technology Institute (DTI) and the Christian Council of Ghana to expand skills development, employment, entrepreneurship and values-based leadership opportunities for young people across the country.
The agreements, signed on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, are aimed at strengthening the pathways through which Ghanaian youth can acquire relevant skills, access decent employment and build sustainable livelihoods while contributing meaningfully to national development.
Under the partnership with the Design and Technology Institute (DTI), the Ministry will collaborate with the institution to deliver industry-led and market-responsive skills training designed to bridge the gap between education and the demands of the labour market.
The initiative is expected to equip young people with practical and technical competencies that can improve their employability while also supporting those interested in entrepreneurship and innovation.
The partnership will also seek to create stronger links between skills development and employment opportunities, including pathways to international labour markets.
The MoU with the Christian Council of Ghana, on the other hand, will draw on the Council’s extensive nationwide network to promote a broader range of youth development initiatives.
These will include volunteerism, national values, responsible digital citizenship, substance abuse prevention and psychosocial support for young people.
The collaboration is expected to provide a platform for reaching youth in communities across the country, particularly those who may have limited access to formal youth development programmes.
The Ministry said the partnerships would place particular emphasis on expanding opportunities for women, persons with disabilities, vulnerable youth and young people in underserved communities.
By combining policy leadership from the Ministry with the technical expertise, institutional networks and implementation capacity of its partners, the agreements are expected to contribute to the development of a skilled, resilient and globally competitive Ghanaian workforce.
The collaborations also form part of broader efforts to address youth unemployment and underemployment by ensuring that young people acquire skills that correspond with current and emerging opportunities in the economy.
The Ministry’s partnership with DTI is expected to strengthen the connection between training institutions and industry, while the collaboration with the Christian Council is intended to complement technical and employment-focused interventions with values-based engagement and social support.
The Ministry said the agreements reflect a shared commitment to unlocking the potential of Ghana’s youth and creating sustainable opportunities that can transform lives and strengthen communities.
The partnerships are ultimately expected to contribute to Ghana’s national development by preparing young people to participate more effectively in the labour market, entrepreneurship and civic life.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to working with strategic partners to ensure that Ghana’s young people are equipped not only with employable skills, but also with the values, support and opportunities needed to build productive and meaningful futures.
