The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has stressed that patients’ healthcare is an absolute necessity that must not be compromised.
Speaking at the commissioning of an 85-bed ward named in his honour – the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno Ward Complex (CTYWC), the IGP said quality healthcare delivery for police personnel, their families and the general public remains a top priority for the Police Administration.
According to him, the Police Service cannot effectively discharge its mandate of protecting lives and property if its own personnel are not healthy and well catered for medically.
“Patients’ healthcare is an absolute necessity. Without good health, we cannot serve Ghana. That is why we are investing in modern healthcare infrastructure for our officers and the communities we serve,” the IGP stated.
The newly commissioned 85-bed ward complex is expected to augment the existing Police Hospital facilities and help decongest the hospital, improve inpatient care, and enhance emergency response for police personnel and civilians.
The IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno Ward Complex is equipped with modern medical equipment, comfortable patient beds, and improved amenities to ensure dignified and efficient healthcare delivery.
Mr. Yohuno commended the Police Medical Directorate, health professionals, and all stakeholders who contributed to the completion of the project, and urged health workers to maintain the facility and uphold professionalism, compassion and integrity in handling patients.
He reiterated the commitment of the current Police Administration under his leadership to continue to improve welfare, including healthcare, accommodation and working conditions of police officers across the country.
The commissioning was attended by members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), senior police officers, medical staff of the Police Hospital, and other invited guests.
